EQUIPMENT
We believe, and will always believe, that there is much more to photography than just having good equipment. That's not to say you have to have top-of-the-line equipment to get the best shots, there's a lot more to nature photography than just the equipment. Here is the list of equipment I use regularly. In addition to the equipment listed below, I have a variety of tripods, filters, and other accessories not mentioned.
WHAT'S IN MY BACKPACK?
vlogging
Sony Alpha 7S III with a Sony 16-35mm f/4 - my favorite combination, sometimes I take the Sony Alpha 7C for being more compact and having the lightest backpack
Zhiyun Gimbal Weebill S - my favorite stabilizer
Turn VideoMic Pro+ - microphone for general recording
Boya Lavalier Microphone - for when I just want to record my voice
Bodies
Starting with the body, I prefer the most up-to-date, high-performance cameras that are suited to wildlife and sports photography.
Sony Alpha 7R IV - the machine that always walks with me on all adventures
Sony Alpha 7R III - my second body and which usually has another lens fitted and ready to use
Sony Alpha 7C - the most compact camera that serves as a body for filming in most situations
Sony RX10 IV - the camera that I take along for the rides, with a powerful and extremely light zoom, it is ideal for getting some records during the rides
GoPro Hero 10 Black Edition - perfect for taking me everywhere and filming some of the adventures
Lens
Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS - my favorite lens for shooting wildlife. I love its reach, with 600mm I can get really close to smaller animals and with the zoom I can also photograph larger animals.
Sony FE 12-24mm f/4G - perfect for photographing the Milky Way and astrophotography, but also for landscape and architecture.
Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 - most suitable lens for portrait photography and to achieve those nicest bokehs.
Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 - the smaller sister of the previous lens, ideal for smaller spaces and for travel.
Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS - the ideal lens for macro photography, it allows me to stay relatively far away but get that 1:1 magnification.
Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM - the ideal lens for astrophotography, it allows me to have a lot of light and be wide enough to capture a lot of sky, it will also be used in landscape and architecture.
Sony FE 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS - my favorite lens for landscape photography, although it's f/4 allows you to get pictures with sharpness and quality.
Sony FE 24-105mm f/4G OSS - my favorite lens for landscape photography, although it's f/4 allows you to get pictures with sharpness and quality.
Laowa 25mm f/2.8 Ultra Macro 2.5-5x Sony FE - this is my latest lens, I was hesitant to buy it but after a few months of using it I'm super satisfied and I'm getting the results I wanted with it.
Sigma MC-11 Adapter - I used it when I still had canon lenses, however, I saved it for when someone wants to try canon lenses.
Flashes
Sony Flash HVL-F60RM2 - powerful and perfect for any situation, I love that the whole system rotates when I need to use it vertically
Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT - flash to fill
Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT - flash to fill
MagMod System - perfect for walking with me everywhere
Hides
-
Tent Cube Aquila Mark II - one of the best hides, in this case for two people, has several windows and we can use a sleeve to camouflage the machine even more.
-
Buteo Mark II Tent - it is perhaps the hide I use the most, it only fits a photographer but it is perfect for me to carry on walks, along with the rest of the equipment.
-
Falco Mark II Tent - a kind of hide tent, it's not very handy to transport, but it's perfect when we want to photograph animals on the ground.
-
Hidrohide - hide I built to photograph aquatic animals.
-
Camouflaged Nets - I have several camouflaged nets that I use to place over all my hides.
GoPros
GoPro Hero 10 Black Edition - with practically perfect image stabilizer and being super small, it is the most used for filming in the field.
GoPro Hero 3 - backup for footage from more confusing angles.
Drones
DJI Mavic Air - is one of the smallest, which allows me to walk with him everywhere.
Tripods
Tripod Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 - the tripod I use the most, but also the one that has suffered the most over the years and already shows its marks of war.
Tripod Mantona Complete Travel Evolution 225-RA - it's my city tripod, light and small, but useful for situations where you can't take the biggest one.
Triopo Gimbal Head DG3 Tripod Head - I think it's the head that spends the most time on the tripod, it's fabulous for wildlife photography in shelters.
Manfrotto Ball Joint Tripod Head 496RC2 - the smallest head I have, useful for use on the monopod or for situations where I need to carry an extra head.
Manfrotto Hinged Head Magnesium 460MG - the head that I use to photograph landscapes, although unfortunately with so much use and some falls on the way to the beaches, it has already broken.
Manfrotto Head Simple Video - it was perhaps the first head I bought when there were few gimbals for sale.
Filters
NISI Filter holder 100mm V6 + Landscape CPL - it's my favorite, as I have a built-in polarizer, that is, I can change lenses and I can still use it
LEE Filter holder 100mm - it was the first one I bought and used for years, it still goes with me whenever I take pictures.
LEE Little Stopper 6 Stops Filter 100x100mm - useful for slowing down.
LEE Big Stopper Filter 10 Stops 100x100mm - useful to further lower the speed.
Backpacks
Pelican 1510 Hard Bag (with dividers) - it's where I keep all my equipment when I'm at home, it's protected from impacts and humidity.
Tamroc Adventure 9 suitcase - backpack that I use when I need to take objects with strange sizes, or clothes, or filters, among others.
Tamroc 5578 Expedition 8 suitcase - backpack to carry the Sony 200-600mm and all the lenses you need for that day, it still has space for a laptop but I use it to carry diffusers or other accessories.
Lowepro ProTactic BP 450 AW II suitcase - a backpack full of structures to hold objects, such as filter holders or lens bags.
Lowepro Powder BP 500 AW suitcase - it's the backpack for expeditions, when I need to go on long walks and carry the material and a small tent, it allows me to take everything and anything, and even attach the tripod and poles to it.
Lowepro Photo Sport BP 200 AWII Bag - when I go to the beaches to photograph the sunrise or sunset is the backpack of choice, it allows me to store coats and attach ropes or other accessories that I need.
Lowepro Photo Hatchback BP 150 AW II Bag - it's the backpack I use when I go for city walks, and I only take the essentials, it opens in the back which allows for more security when traveling.
Lowepro Photo Classic BP300 AW Bag - allows you to take just one body, two lenses and a flash, but it's enough for those quiet outings where we go more for leisure than for work.
Accessories
Panasonic Eneloop Pro 2500mAh AA Batteries - these rechargeable batteries are fabulous, as they are quick to fire the flash and withstand a lot of shots, and I always carry them back and forth.
Peak Design - I love the peak design straps, they are easy to use when you have multiple bodies and can even be attached to the lens.
Peak Design Strap Leash - small, useful for situations where I only have the camera and a small lens.
Peak Design Cuff Strap - for when I'm in sessions and it's easier to have the camera strapped to my wrist, to quickly take a picture without having to go looking for the camera.
Peak Design Strap Slide - when I'm out and about and need something light and easy to use.
Peak Design Strap Slide Lite - the one I use when I have the Sony 200-600, it's the biggest and most comfortable strap, but also the one that offers the best security when the equipment gets heavy.
